Automotive media outlet Carscoops has revealed spy shots of the upcoming baby G-Class.
The design still retains the unmistakable G-Class identity, from the upright windshield and nearly vertical side panels to the boxy roofline. The prototype also features a rear-mounted spare tire, just like the full-size G-Class.
A key detail lies at the front: the grille is completely covered, confirming that this is an electric vehicle (EV). Mercedes has already announced that the model will make its debut as a fully electric SUV.
The vehicle will ride on a new, smaller platform that resembles a ladder-frame chassis, something rarely seen in EVs. This indicates that Mercedes intends to give the baby G-Class genuine off-road capability, not just a rugged look.
