Ford Reports Approximately THB 250 Billion Loss Despite Record Revenue

12 February 2026| Number Of Visitors 1,220

Ford has announced a US$8.2 billion loss (approximately THB 250 billion) for the 2025 calendar year, marking its worst financial result since 2008 and its third full-year loss in the past six years, despite recording a historic high in revenue.

Ford confirmed that its Model e electric vehicle division posted an EBIT (earnings before interest and tax) loss of US$4.8 billion (approximately THB 148 billion) in 2025. Earlier last year, the company also announced a US$19.5 billion write-down (approximately THB 600 billion) on its EV investments. As a result, Ford canceled the electric Ford F-150 Lightning program and postponed the launch of several planned EV models.

In addition, the introduction of US import tariffs starting in April 2025, along with additional parts tariffs and retaliatory international tariffs, increased the company’s costs by US$2 billion (approximately THB 62 billion).

Ford stated that tariff changes introduced by the US federal government in December 2025 prevented the automaker from claiming expected offsets, adding another US$900 million in tariff costs beyond earlier forecasts.

Chief Financial Officer Sherry House said the company expects to incur an additional US$2 billion (approximately THB 28 billion) in tariff-related costs in 2026. At the same time, Ford anticipates EV-related losses of around US$4–4.5 billion (approximately THB 120–140 billion) this year.

Despite the losses, Ford recorded a historic revenue of US$187.3 billion (approximately THB 5.8 trillion), which helped boost its share price. US union workers will still receive a profit-sharing payment of US$6,780 (approximately THB 210,000), although this is down from US$10,200 (approximately THB 317,000) in the previous year.

The Ford F-Series remained the best-selling vehicle lineup in the United States, outperforming both the Chevrolet Silverado and Toyota RAV4.

The company reduced costs by US$1.5 billion (approximately THB 46 billion) in 2025 and expects to cut an additional US$1 billion (approximately THB 31 billion) in 2026.

Ford CEO Jim Farley said, “Ford delivered strong performance in 2025 amid a rapidly changing and volatile environment. We improved our core business and execution, made significant progress in areas we control, including lowering material and warranty costs, improving product quality, and making difficult but necessary strategic decisions to build a stronger future. Moving forward, we will continue building on our strong foundation to achieve our target of an adjusted EBIT margin of 8% by 2029.”

While dealing with EV and tariff costs, Ford is also looking to capitalize on the growing popularity of hybrid vehicles in the United States and is developing Extended-Range Electric Vehicle (EREV) technology for upcoming models, including the next-generation F-150 Lightning.

Additionally, Ford is currently in discussions with several Chinese automakers to produce EVs in shared factories to reduce tariff impacts in Europe, where the company has also pledged to strengthen its competitiveness in the passenger car segment.
