Mercedes-Benz has released a teaser image of the G-Class Cabriolet. While the brand hasn’t revealed many details, it has confirmed that this iconic model is evolving to the next level — and “the top is about to go down.”
The teaser shows the familiar lines of the G-Class, with a boxy front end and an upright windscreen. However, the most noticeable changes are at the rear, where the retractable roof starts just behind the A-pillar and the third-quarter window is absent, giving it a profile reminiscent of the Mercedes-Maybach G 650 Landaulet.
Although no further information about the G-Class Cabriolet has been released, it’s expected to debut at the Munich Motor Show from September 9–12, with sales likely to begin in 2026.
Engine options are expected to mirror those of the standard model, including:
-
A 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six petrol engine producing 449 hp and 559 Nm of torque.
-
A 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine producing 585 hp (430 kW / 585 PS) and 849 Nm of torque.
There’s also the possibility of an EQ variant, featuring four electric motors and a 116 kWh battery pack, delivering a combined output of 587 hp and 1,163 Nm of torque.
