Nio Firefly EV Right-Hand Drive to Enter Thai and UK Markets in 2026
The Firefly EV was launched in China on April 19, 2025, with prices ranging from 119,800 to 125,800 yuan (approximately 546,000–574,000 THB). On November 18, Nio began production of the right-hand-drive Firefly EV, with the first batch destined for Singapore. Sales in Thailand and the United Kingdom will begin next year.
Daniel Jin, CEO of Firefly, told Reuters that the Firefly EV will enter the Thai and UK markets in 2026, as the company aims to accelerate its expansion into countries without import tariff barriers.
Daniel Jin added that other key right-hand-drive markets for the Firefly EV include Australia, New Zealand, and Southeast Asia. He acknowledged that sales in these regions may grow slowly due to the need to build consumer trust. The company is currently negotiating with distributors, although some still regard Firefly as just another “made-in-China” EV brand.
The Firefly EV is a small hatchback featuring distinctive circular headlights, a blacked-out roof, flush door handles, and short bumpers. Inside, it comes equipped with a 13.2-inch floating touchscreen, a 6-inch digital instrument cluster, and 14 speakers.
The Firefly EV is powered by an electric motor producing 105 kW (141 hp), enabling 0–100 km/h acceleration in 8.2 seconds. Its 42.1 kWh battery provides a driving range of up to 330 km on a single charge under WLTP standards.
