SAIC-Audi has officially launched the Audi E5 Sportback in China, offering four trim levels with official pricing ranging from 235,900 – 319,900 yuan (approximately 1,049,000 – 1,423,000 baht).
The Audi E5 Sportback is built on an intelligent digital platform jointly developed by SAIC and Audi, and manufactured at the SAIC Audi Smart Manufacturing Base. Its exterior design draws inspiration from Audi’s E concept while retaining the brand’s core design elements. According to official information, the model integrates the classic rounded wheel arches of the first-generation Audi TT, the sleek surfaces of the RSQ concept car, and the form of the RS6.
The E5 Sportback comes with a ring-shaped headlight cluster paired with a closed front grille that incorporates lighting functions and an illuminated Audi logo at the lower edge of the hood. Both the front and rear logos use dark chrome material with floating illuminated designs.
The vehicle is equipped with a roof-mounted LiDAR system to support autonomous driving capabilities with Momenta EBM. It includes 27 perception devices in total: a long-range LiDAR, three long-range millimeter-wave radars, 12 ultrasonic radars, and 11 cameras, all powered by Nvidia’s Orin-X chip to handle scenarios including urban roads, highways, and automatic parking.
Side profile
The design features slightly raised front and rear wheel arches combined with clean body lines. The car also has hidden door handles and electronic side mirrors (supporting BSD, DOW, and RCTA functions). Its sloping roofline in Sportback style offers wagon-like practicality while maintaining sporty appeal.
Rear
The back features a full-width taillight assembly with vertical elements at both ends, echoing the front design. According to official data, the vehicle uses a total of 942 LED light sources at the front and rear, enhanced by infrared micro-hole laser engraving technology to create nearly 2,000 triangular light patterns.
Interior
Inside, the cabin comes with a full-width “ultrawide” screen that integrates a fully digital instrument cluster, a central control screen, and a passenger entertainment display. On both sides, “ear flaps” serve as displays for the electronic side mirrors. The car runs on the new Audi OS operating system, powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chip, and features the intelligent Audi assistant, enhanced with advanced AI capabilities.
