Dongfeng Cars Malaysia, through its local distributor Central Auto Distributors Berhad (CADB), has unveiled the Dongfeng Vigo for the first time in Malaysia. Displayed alongside the Dongfeng 007, the model is positioned as a family-friendly C-segment SUV, sized similarly to electric SUVs such as the Proton eMAS 7 (e.MAS 7), BYD Atto 3, and MG S5 EV. It is scheduled to go on sale in Malaysia in the first quarter of 2026.
The Dongfeng Vigo features a rugged yet modern design, with boxy proportions and sharp character lines that give it an adventurous look. Exterior highlights include Adaptive LED headlights with L-shaped DRLs, while the rear adopts a similar L-shaped, slim LED taillight design split into two sections.
Inside, the Vigo comes equipped with an 8.8-inch capsule-style digital instrument cluster and a 12.8-inch central infotainment display. The Malaysian-spec model will support Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and will be fitted with a 540-degree surround-view camera.
Expected interior equipment for Malaysia includes:
-
Two-spoke multifunction steering wheel
-
6-speaker sound system
-
Wireless charging pad
-
Vegan leather seats
-
Heated and ventilated front seats
-
Ambient lighting
-
Split tailgate (similar to the BMW X5)
As for performance, Dongfeng Malaysia has yet to release official figures, but it has revealed a driving range of 471 km (CLTC), matching the specifications of the Singapore model. The Malaysian market is expected to receive the same setup: a front-mounted electric motor producing 135 hp and 230 Nm of torque, delivering a 0–100 km/h time of 9.5 seconds. It uses a 51.87 kWh battery, supporting up to 167 kW DC fast charging and 6.6 kW AC charging. Dongfeng Malaysia claims the Vigo can charge from 30% to 80% in about 18 minutes.
Pricing is estimated to start at around RM100,000 when it officially launches. The company also plans local CKD assembly in the future, which could help lower costs once Malaysia’s EV tax exemptions end.
