Leapmotor Unveils B05 Electric Hatchback, Rival to MG 4 and BYD Dolphin at Munich Motor Show
The Leapmotor B05 is the third model in the brand’s B-Series lineup, following the B10 (small SUV) and B01 (small sedan). The car adopts a five-door hatchback body style with smooth, flowing lines similar to the B10 and C10, but with a lower ride height and roofline. Positioned as a sporty small hatchback, the B05 comes with frameless door glass and black 19-inch alloy wheels.
The B05 is built on Leapmotor’s in-house LEAP 3.5 platform, which supports an 800-volt electrical system and a rear-motor, rear-wheel-drive layout. It is offered with a 160 kW motor and two battery options—52.6 kWh and 67.1 kWh—providing driving ranges of 361 km and 434 km respectively.
Dimensions (Leapmotor B05):
-
Length: 4,430 mm
-
Width: 1,880 mm
-
Height: 1,520 mm
-
Wheelbase: 2,735 mm
Compared to its rivals, the B05 is 130 mm shorter than the Honda Civic but shares the same wheelbase. It is also 143 mm longer than the MG 4, with a 30 mm longer wheelbase. Leapmotor also notes that the B05’s width of 1,880 mm makes it the widest in its class—72 mm wider than the MG 4—and even wider than the Tesla Model 3 and Toyota Camry.
The Leapmotor B05 has been designed with the European market in mind, and production will take place in Spain. Leapmotor Australia has confirmed the B05 will launch locally in mid-2026.
