
MG has officially launched the MG U9 pickup truck in Melbourne, Australia, directly challenging the popular Ford Ranger and Toyota Hilux in the Australian market.
The MG U9 shares its platform with the MAXUS STAR X and LDV TERRON 9. The 4-door 4x4 version will come equipped with a 2.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder diesel engine, expected to produce a maximum output of 220 horsepower and 520 Nm of torque. It will be paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and offer a maximum towing capacity of up to 3.5 tons. A plug-in hybrid powertrain option is set to follow at a later date. Official pricing has yet to be announced.
Confirmed features include a massaging driver’s seat, multi-adjustable seating, a JBL sound system, and foldable seats that allow for walkthrough access from the cabin to the rear bed.
